The Naghtaneqed School has four teachers.? The primary class has kindergarten to grade 3, intermediate class has grade 4 to 6 and the senior class from grade 7 to 9. These teachers rotate classes to cover the various subjects taught. June Williams from Nemiah teaches the Chilcotin class from kindergarten to grade 9. Other students that continue on to high school go to Williams Lake or elsewhere, for e.g. Kamloops or Victoria to complete their high school. The same goes for college, post secondary and universities.
Some of the school staff consists of : Marg Colgate who is the secretary; Dinah Lulua is the Liaison / teacher aid; Sharon Baptiste is the Librarian; Annie William and Roland Class rotate every two weeks as janitors and James Lulua is the bus driver.
The school goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday to Thursdays. And Fridays are half a day from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The school raises money selling hot lunches every Tuesdays and Thursdays with concessions available every day.
There's also the Chilcotin Immersion Class that's taught Monday to Friday. Selina Myers from Stone Reserve? teaches the Chilcotin Immersion Class for 4 to 5 yr old kids. The Immersion class is in the trailer right next to the big school and it has been offered for 6 years. Julianna Lulua is the assistant teacher for Selena. The young ones are taught only the Chilcotin language including our traditional and cultural way of life.?
